Vanilla Banana Almond Smoothie
I’ve been making healthy smoothies for years and tend to fall into a routine with them, so I get excited when I come up with a new recipe! This vanilla banana almond smoothie is incredibly delicious, while also providing a balanced meal that will keep you full for several hours!
Every smoothie I make follows the Fab 4 formula where you incorporate protein, fiber, fat and greens while keeping fruit to around 1/4 cup. This is a handy post & graphic by Kelly Leveque that explains the smoothie formula. She is the nutritionist who started the Fab 4 movement and her book helped me to completely shift my mindset toward eating.
Usually my smoothies are pretty darn ugly (but delicious), but I stuck with all similar toned ingredients for this blend so it would look as creamy as it tastes! In this instance I used riced cauliflower instead of a “green,” but it still counts in my book ;) I know cauliflower seems bizarre to add into a smoothie, but you can’t taste it and it makes the smoothie nice and creamy. Trust me on this! Also, all of these measurements are approximate! If your smoothie is too thick to blend, add a bit of water.
Vanilla Banana Almond Smoothie
1/3 frozen banana (I freeze them in chunks)
1 serving vanilla protein powder (aim for 20g of protein)
1-2 tablespoons unsweetened almond butter
1-2 tablespoons of fiber (I do 1 tbsp chia seeds & 1 tbsp acacia fiber)
1/2 cup frozen riced cauliflower
1 cup unsweetened non-dairy milk (I use cashew or almond)
ice
Enjoy! xx
