8 Herbal Teas to Try for Better Health
You’ve probably picked up that I LOVE drinking hot teas on the daily! They’ve become such a calming, healthy ritual for me, and my favorite teas also have a number of health benefits.
I frequently get asked for tea recommendations, and since I’ve tried countless teas and really pinpointed the ones I love, I thought I would share them altogether in one blog post! Of note: I’ve recently started trying some loose leaf teas, but this post will cover teas that come in tea bags and that can easily be ordered online or purchased at most health food stores.
DETOX TEAS
I am SO very passionate about supporting your body’s natural detoxification process. In fact, I a whole blog post about healthy detoxification in the works. These functions in the body are crucial for detoxing excess estrogen, environmental toxins and more, and if they’re detoxed through the liver and kidneys, they won’t make their way to our skin in the form of acne! Ingredients like dandelion root and burdock root support liver function, so I always look for at least one of those in a detox tea.
I’ve tried a lot of different detox teas and many are bitter or simply don’t taste good. But these three are delicious! I aim for a cup of detox tea every day!
This is probably my all-time favorite tea and one I drink nearly every night! It has a delicious spiciness to it and smells incredible too. If you try one tea from this blog post, make it this one! All of the ingredients are organic, and it includes both burdock root and dandelion root. When I’m consistent in drinking this tea I notice a difference in my skin and in my periods (because my body’s natural detoxing process is boosted).
This is another absolutely heavenly tasting tea that I love to have a few mornings per week (it has just a bit of caffeine)! Rose petal and hibiscus are both used in Ayurvedic medicine to soothe skin, and it also includes burdock and dandelion roots for a detoxing boost.
This tea has a subtle herbal, minty flavor, and helps maintain a healthy liver, support the body’s cleansing/purification process, and provides antioxidant support.
green teas
Green teas are an amazing source of antioxidants which fight the formation of free radicals (that contribute to aging and many diseases) and help prevent cell damage. Antioxidants help ward off several forms of cancer and are also beneficial for skin health! Green tea also provides a nice energy boost, and may boost metabolism as well. Have I talked you into it yet??
The problem is is that some green teas are really bitter and aren’t the most enjoyable to drink, but I wanted to share four that I really like and drink regularly (I have a cup of green tea 3-4 mornings per week).
Yogi Tea Green Tea with Passion Fruit and Matcha
This is a nice blend of green tea and matcha, and also contains ginger and passion fruit, which give it a really pleasant taste!
So this product is a powder rather than a tea bag, but matcha is a different form of green tea that has soooo many health benefits! I love that it provides a steady source of energy rather than the highs and lows of coffee (which are too much for me). This is my favorite matcha because it tastes delicious (instead of like grass) and also contains amazing ingredients like collagen, ashwagandha and reishi. It’s a bit pricier, but includes soooo many health-boosting ingredients in one drink and is still way cheaper than getting a matcha latte at a coffee shop (plus cuts out the added sugar)! You can use code JACYLENORE for 20% off your first order at Ancient Nutrition.
Trader Joe’s Moroccan Mint Green Tea
I stock up on this any time I can make it to a Trader Joe’s! The subtle mint flavor is so refreshing!
Other Teas
Ginger is incredibly soothing for our digestion (love it after dinner or anytime my stomach isn’t feeling 100!), and this mango ginger tea tastes delicious and has warming spices and antioxidants as well!
Traditional Medicinals Healthy Cycle
This Healthy Cycle tea contains raspberry leaf, which supports a healthy period, relieves cramps, and is also amazing during pregnancy because it tones the uterus. It’s also delicious! I drink 1-2 cups per day while on my period and it really eases any symptoms!
