2014 Highlights

2014 was such an incredible and eventful year, and I have so many things I want to journal on my little slice of the internet so that I can remember them forever!

1.
We added another fur baby to our family this summer named Russell and he's now around 8-9 months old! Like our basset hound mix Lulu (who we've had for 3 years), Russ is also a rescue dog and we love these little mutts like they're our own kids. Despite calling them our "little monsters" sometimes, they have been such a blessing and brought so much joy and laughter into our lives!

If you're interested in adding a pet to your own family this year, I encourage you to explore adopting a shelter animal. It's been such a rewarding experience for us, and there are hundreds of thousands of pets waiting for a chance and a loving home.

2.
We bought a house this year! I grew up with parents who instilled in me at a very young age how important it is to save and be wise with your money, and it was incredible to see my hard work and life savings pay off in being able to purchase our own home at the ages of 23 this summer! I haven't really posted any pictures of our home (inside or out) because it was pretty dang ugly when we bought it (to be perfectly honest) and we still have so many projects to save for and then tackle! But this was a little shot of our house back in October that I got up the guts to share.

We will complete the landscaping in the spring, and eventually want to get a new front door and change the shutter color to brighten it up some more. Inside, we've already redone all the flooring, put in new appliances, and painted every room. Over the next year we're hoping to completely re-do the bathrooms, start saving for a kitchen overhaul, and hopefully buy some more furniture (it's a little sparse right now haha). I can't wait to get to the point where I can share more about our home and its transformation with you!

3.
In the same month as buying a home, I also moved about an hour to a new town (Trey's hometown), and was blessed to get a new job! I'm the Communications Director of our school district and I can now say that I truly love my full time job.

4.
As most of you probably know, Trey and I got engaged last Christmas and got married this summer. I wouldn't say that I loved wedding planning, but it did bring about so many wonderful celebrations including engagement photos, marriage mentorship, two lovely bridal showers, a bachelorette party (pictured), and such a fun rehearsal dinner!

5.
And then we got married! On July 26, 2014... A date I will always cherish, and a day I will always remember.

I'll share all about our wedding with lots of pictures when I get all of them back, but here is a sneak peek at our gorgeous photos by my dear friend Jordyn of Jo Johnson Photography

Being married to this man has undoubtedly been the most wonderful thing of my life, and I'm so happy that it's just the beginning of our lives together.

6.
For our honeymoon, we road tripped to New York City and it was the best trip! It was unconventional for a honeymoon, but we had so much fun together and absolutely fell in love with NYC. I think about that magical city daily...

I want to thank all of you from the bottom of my heart for following my journey this past year! This blog is so much fun for me, but I also pour a lot of time and heart into it, so I am so thankful to everyone who takes the time to read it, and to everyone who has given me encouragement along the way.

Happy New Year to all of you!

xo,
Jacy
